Concordia [1] - one of Shanghai's three American-curriculum international schools - is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. A non-denominational Christian school, Concordia was founded in 1998. Enrollment for the 2010-11 school year is over 1,200 students. Enrollment for the 2011-12 school year is expected to be about 1,300 students with waiting lists from the Preschool 3-year-old program through Grade 7.
Starting out with only one temporary building and about 20 students, Concordia now has five permanent buildings.
In August 2007, the 10-acre (40,000 m2) campus opened its new elementary school building (replacing an existing structure) and the David F. Rittmann Fine Arts Center (featuring a 450-seat theater to support the drama program, 2D and 3D art rooms, art gallery, and choir/band rooms). June 2008 marked the beginning of construction on a new, 6 floor high school building, which opened August 2009.
The School has been selected by the Good Schools Guide International for review.[1]
